Kaikan Fee’s
Introduction to Membership and Grading Fees
Shorin Kempo Kaikan operates on the principle that martial arts organizations should support their members, instructors, Dojo Operators, and Regional Branch Chiefs rather than impose extravagant fees, as is common with many other organizations.

Our fee structure has been carefully designed to keep membership and grading costs affordable while allowing both independent Dojo Operators and Regional Branch Chiefs to generate income to support the development, operation, and growth of Shorin Kempo within their respective dojos and regions.

Kyu Grades and Student Membership
Shorin Kempo Kaikan does not collect grading fees for any Kyu grades, including Shodan-Ho. Furthermore, students below Shodan are not required to purchase official membership ID cards. However, dojos wishing to provide their students with official Shorin Kempo Kaikan membership cards may do so voluntarily. The cost is USD $25 per card, with a percentage of this fee allocated to both the Dojo Operator and Regional Branch Chief.

All official membership cards feature a unique QR code and are issued for life. As students progress through their grades or transfer between affiliated dojos, their records can be updated by forwarding the relevant information through their Branch Chief to the Hombu Dojo.

The QR code remains unchanged, allowing their membership information to be updated without issuing a new card. The QR code system is accessible using any modern smartphone by scanning the code and opening the associated link.

Dan Grades and Official Certification Official membership ID cards are included automatically with all Shodan and higher Dan grade certifications, with no additional membership card fee.

Only the Shorin Kempo Kaikan Hombu Dojo is authorized to issue official black belts for Shodan and higher grades. These specially manufactured belts meet the standards established by the Kaikan and are included in the official grading fees.

All Dan gradings above Shodan are also certified and underwritten by the World Kumite Organization (WKO), with this certification included in the relevant grading fee. Supporting the Kaikan and Its International Growth Operating an international martial arts organization requires considerable administrative resources, including membership records, certification, grading administration, international coordination, and the continued development of the system.

Shorin Kempo Kaikan does not rely on excessive membership charges or compulsory student registration fees.

The Kaikan receives its operational income through only two compulsory payments:
1-Annual Dojo Registration Fees.
2-Official Dan Grading Fees.

These fees are essential to maintaining the standards, administration, and long-term sustainability of Shorin Kempo Kaikan.

By following the fee structure and regulations outlined in this document, all Dojo Operators and Regional Branch Chiefs contribute directly to the continued growth of Shorin Kempo while maintaining the opportunity to generate income for their own dojos and regional organizations.
